ISACA, a non-profit global association that provides practical guidance and tools for auditing and securing business information systems, is holding their Annual Summer Conference at the Sheraton Centre Toronto on June 20 to 21st. The association has a network of over 140,000 professionals worldwide with 200 chapters in 80 different countries; the Toronto chapter is presenting their third annual conference for assurance, risk and control professionals to provide them with the knowledge and tools to face the challenges of the emerging and existing technology, IT risk and governance issues.
Larry will be the closing keynote speaker for the conference, and his presentation aims to prepare business professionals with a strategy to defend from phishing scams and the ransomware epidemic. Ransomware has reached near epidemic proportions and ransom attacks are extending beyond surreptitiously encrypted endpoint computers to server lockouts, confidential information extortion and persistent worm infections for repeated ransom demands. He will also outline the current state and near-term outlook for these threats, the distribution methodology, defence strategies, as well as the ethical conundrum of paying criminals that funds more criminality.
