National Cybersecurity Consortium 2026: Larry Keating on AI Security and National Resilience
On June 18, 2026, our President and Founder, Larry Keating, participated in a panel at the National Cybersecurity Consortium 2026 Conference in Montreal, Quebec. The session, titled: "Securing Intelligence: Skills, Research and Canada's Readiness for Adversarial AI Systems," examined Canada's preparedness for the evolving security challenges associated with artificial intelligence.
The discussion explored whether traditional cybersecurity training remains sufficient in the age of adversarial AI, where intelligent systems themselves may become targets of manipulation and attack. Panellists also examined Canada's investment in AI security research and the capabilities required to develop, test, and defend AI systems that will support long-term national resilience.
Larry joined an accomplished panel of industry leaders, moderated by Dr. Emily Laidlaw, Canada Research Chair in Cybersecurity Law and Professor at the University of Calgary. Fellow panellists included Amir Belkhelladi, Canadian Leader for Sovereign AI at Deloitte, and Shuman Ghosemajumder, Co-Founder and CEO of Reken, former Global Head of AI at F5, and founder of Google's Trust & Safety product group.
As part of the conference program, Larry co-facilitated the workshop Future Research Missions in AI and Cybersecurity with Sébastien Gambs, a leading researcher in privacy, ethics, and data governance. The workshop examined how Canada can identify and support the research initiatives most essential to securing AI systems and strengthening cybersecurity capabilities.
